Here are some highlights of LA:
First - here`s the pic of the iconic Hollywood sign from the Griffith Park Observatory!
Our first day in LA, we spent parts of it in downtown, Beverley hills, and the rest of the night in Venice beach. LA downtown wasn't really special, but I did enjoy seeing the Walt Disney Concert Hall. There was an audio tour - which was quite informative about how the hall came about, the architecture and its intentions, and how it is used today. Insightful, I must say. Ah, Beverley Hills. I suppose I should talk about it. It has beautiful houses (all gated off course), and really nice high-end shopping stores, but other than that, not much else for visitors.
At night, we decided to hit up Venice beach like mentioned before and it was a very hipster area with some new-agey stuff. We had great mexican food, and walked through some stores and art galleries. When we finished walking around that area, we decided to walk along the boardwalk of the beach only to realize that after-dark, that beach brings in a whole new crowd (and not in a good way). Least to say, it was a bit sketch. Thankfully, not the only beach we went to see.
Second day in LA we went to Hollywood! As blogged about earlier we went to the WB studios to see their back lots, sets, and props! One of my highlights again was seeing the original set of Friends! And as my dedication to her and her recent birthday, voila- you've been there, G!
We went that day also to the very renowned Hollywood Blvd to see some of the walk of fame stars, the Kodak Theatre, Grauman's Chinese Theatre, and picked up some lunch at Mel's Dinner. Here are some of the pics from walking on Hollywood Blvd.
Also all you Simpson Fans out there... think you're hardcore, can YOU do this?
To end our second day, we decide because we were in Hollywood, the land of where many, many movies are produced, we went to watch a movie. We watched The Vow with Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. It was alright.
Third day in LA was beach day. Oh man, has M. been long awaiting this day! We went to Manhattan beach, first to shop around the area, and then spent a couple of hours there by the waters. It was really nice. It was a pretty upscale neighborhood, and I am almost certain people there live like the those on the O.C! It was a great ending to our trip as we had many wonderful activities over the week, so this day was a nice relaxing one!
One last post to come re: California- our one day trip to a city south of LA, San Diego!
