Part 4 Kenya

Week 3

Hello Family and Friends!

Another week has quickly passed! I hope things on your end are good.

This week, two of my team mates and I went to Litein (a district in Kenya about 5-6 hours from Nairobi), to visit the AIC (Africa Inland Church) hospital and community there. After a long ride there, we arrived Monday evening and we stayed with two families in the community for the few days. Although, it was a quick stay, we got to visit the hospital wards and clinics each day. We were able to see the work of the health care workers, the patients there, and help as we could. The set up of the hospital is very similar to that of Kijiabe's, but the Litein hospital is smaller (and seemed especially quiet the week we went). I think one of the highlights this week was again seeing the staff have devotions and prayers before a work shift. It is always very encouraging to me that they seek God's word and pray for each other. Another highlight was staying with a family for the few days. They really welcomed us, and we got to get to know them really well. (The family had a little girl - she was adorable and tons of fun to play with). In the few days, we learned quite a bit from them about their culture, their lifestyle, and their faith in the Lord. I thank the Lord for giving us that opportunity this past week to stay with them. In addition to all of this, Litein is also a beautiful place, so whenever we had a free moment, we were able to enjoy the warm sunshine, and the green scenery. It was a wonderful week overall, but there were some challenges, particularly when it came to meeting some of the patients' needs. Their resources were less, and there was a gap between knowledge and practice. So, I would like to ask you to pray for the Litein Hospital and the work that they do, and the patients they see.

This coming week, our team is heading out to Lokiochogio (up North of Kenya – near the boarder of Sudan). We will be flying out early in the morning tomorrow. So, please pray for again safe travelling and protection as we take the plane this week. At Lokiochogio, we will be visiting the AIC dispensary/clinic, as well as a district health care centre there. Please pray for our experience there this week that it would be positive. I also ask that you pray for strength, wisdom, and patience for each team member as we go to this place and meet the people there. Thank you for all your support and prayers. It is greatly appreciated it. May the Lord Bless!
