Part 2 Kenya

Update letters from the trip to family and friends:

Week 1

Hello Family and Friends!

Thank you for all your prayers and financial support for this mission trip and particularly for me! Many prayers have been answered! First, I am happy to say that the Lord has blessed me with his provision – all of this trip's expenses are fully covered by supporters. I have much to thank you all and the Lord for that. It has been an eye-opening experience seeing God 's amazing planning and provision! And in the planning for trip, I arrived to Toronto the weekend of July 18th for the team training. During such time, our team met, bonded, and got ready for the learning and helping opportunities over in Kenya.

Our team arrived the morning of July 24th to Nairobi, Kenya after an interesting journey. We had a delayed flight and also a missed flight connection, but we arrived safely, and all in one-piece! Thank the Lord for a safe arrival. Our team was split up this past week - going to various areas around Kenya visiting the different communities and health care facilities. My team mate Laura and I visited an Africa Inland Church (AIC) Child Care Center/ Clinic in the Kenya district of Kajiado. It was an amazing experience this week. After quite a journey to Kenya, and a quick transition to Kajiado, we were by the grace of God still able to learn a lot about the kind of health care work the AIC community is doing. On two occasions, we were able to see the AIC nurses working in the mobile clinics of the rural areas. And on other days, we were able to see the work done in the AIC clinic and dispensary (pharmacy), as well as the physiotherapy department. We could clearly see that the Lord is working among the AIC community. Many of those they provide health care to are people of Massai culture, and also more specifically to disabled children. Other than the health care, we were able to be attend their churches, their staff devotion times, and their fellowships. The community really welcomed and invited us, which I am very grateful for. I have learned many different things from the Massai culture to the healthcare there, and things about our amazing God. Although there were some challenges, there were also many rewarding moments and experience. So, praise the Lord.

This coming week, we (Laura, Candy - another team mate, and I) will be heading over to the Kajiabe Hospital and community, where we will be able to see the health care provided there. I am excited for this, as I hear many great things about the hospital and the community there. I like to at this time also share with you some of my specific prayer requests this week. Please see the below:

Prayer requests:

- Please pray for health, energy, and strength for all team members, so that we will be equipped doing what the Lord wants us to do!!! (We do quite a bit of traveling, which can be tiresome).

- Please pray for safety and protection as we travel to the hospitals and possibly to some rural areas. (Many of the roads are tough for traveling!)

- Please pray for our leaders, Dr. Paul and Nurse Pam, that they will be able to lead us in this learning experience.

- Please pray for the relationships that we will be building with the staff that they may be meaningful. Please also pray for the interactions that we will be having with the patients.

- Please pray for the opportunities I will have to share my faith - that I will have the courage to do so, and that it will be encouraging to others.

Thank you so much for all your support and for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers!! It is so appreciated. I know the Lord is doing great things, and even more He is teaching me wonderful things as we travel, and as we get to know others. I thank the Lord for that.

I will continue to update you on what is going on in the next couple of weeks. Take care, and you are all in my prayers.
