Horn of Africa Crisis

For about a week now, I have heard about the drought striking across Kenya and its surrounding areas. And my heart is burdened by such news. Not too long ago, I once was there, and have seen first hand what hunger and poverty means, and how it affects every child and adult. Simply water and food is a privilege. And not every mouth in the family is fed at the end of the day. I have been in health care clinics, where they measure children arms and assess for malnutrition, and give to families literally powered food to cook back at their homes. I was overwhelmed to see what challenges these women, and children faced everyday of their lives. How can we ever come close to knowing what they face? I live in complete in abundance here in Canada, yet, I know they need not our sympathy nor necessarily our help, but encouragement. I remember coming back home, thinking that sometimes, we can only give ourselves and love to others. (That being said, giving practically can show our love to them). I was even encouraged by those who preserve, their resilience in such circumstances, and their faith in God's providence. I was truly humbled.

I want to encourage you to be informed about the situation in the Horn of Africa, and research different ways you can help. Because we have been blessed, and maybe you've been yourself encouraged at one point, and now you can encourage and love others the same way you have been shown love. I know I have and I can only give back what I can. Keep those affected in your prayers.
